How To Properly Create Meta Tags?
You don't use the tool once, and just put the code on
all your website pages - plus you should not flood them with keywords.
Search Engines won't like it that you abuse the meta tags by over
repeating keywords.
Meta tags have three important sections - the
Title,
Description and
Keywords. Each page of your website should have different and unique
meta tags but that's rarely possible because it's time consuming to do that and it won't help that much.
So at least create unique meta tags for the most important pages
of your website - therefore the pages that get the most traffic. Like the Homepage and so on.
You don't have to worry about the Keywords tag, if they are all the
same. But YES if you can for the most important pages of your website
create unique meta tags (unique title and unique description).
Remember
meta tags should describe what the page you put them on is all
about. So if you have a page that talks about
dog food products. Than
the title and description should actually be about dog food
products, about the page, not filled with unrelated keywords, words or
anything else.
RECAP:
Yse the tool to create unique meta tags for the most important pages of
your website... and for the other pages of your website do the
following:
Just open the website editor tool you use and go to
View the Source code and you'll see the title tag is already there:
Just that it's blank or in some cases it's called
Untitled.
Always change that and input a keyword or a proper title related to the
page. So whenever you're going to create a new page on your website,
make sure you always change the
Title Tag. You don't have to use this tool to create the meta tags for other pages.
Hopefully you got the point. If you don't have a website editor tool you can
download NVU.
