Step 1 Fixes:

Remove the word home from the meta title tag, that's known as a Stop Word. Pages with stop words may have a hard time getting indexed.

You can get penalized for keyword stuffing, because of too many similar ones, just put your main keyword and some 3-4 related only in the meta tag keyword.

I would also add some more content on your homepage, if possible of course! And use nofollow tags on links on the homepage like Contact Us and practically all pages that are useless to pass pagerank to. Like shopping cart and testimonial pages too.

Note: You can see whenever I link to an order page from my salesletter at: http://www.outranksmart.com I use the nofollow tag. Why? Because that way I don't pass pagerank to the order form page, it remains on the salesletter. The SEO Aid plugin can help you to know which links are using the nofollow tag.

Step 3 Fixes:

On your homepage, you link to your homepage with anchor text: Homepage. You can change that to: Fuller Brush Home

On your Resources page same thing instead of saying:

Our Home Page

put it:

Fuller Brush Home

Now do you have to make these changes as if someone is pointing a gun at you? NO! If you can it's great, if you cannot move on - the more important SEO techniques are the offpage techniques see below.

Step 4 Fixes:

Your linkspage has just 6 categories. That's few. Put more, 70% related to your site, 30% unrelated to your site. When potential link partners visit your website and find you only have 6 categories they may think you're not actively doing link exchanges.

In order words they say: Well this website has just got 6 categories probably they're on vacation or they're not doing link exchanges anymore- so why waste my time on them!

I have around 24, but of course build the directory bit by bit, so add around 15 now (so you don't have too many categories with no links in them - that's also bad). Then as you make more link exchanges add more categories.

Step 5 Fixes:

This is one simple thing you can do. Sometimes when you are linking to your homepage url you add /index.php at the end.

Don't do that.

Use always the homepage url without adding /index.php or /index.html add the end.

Want a technical answer? Spiders are not humans, they're software and they think those are too different pages. Like with all other techniques I can write a book about this, who cares?? that's the way it is.

Conclusion Part I

Having said all that your site age is old, it was created on 16-Mar-2005, that's good thing, search engines like old sites.

They probably prefer young woman, but love old sites. :)

Even though I mentioned some onpage things you can do quickly to improve your site... the following is also true.

Links are more important.

You only have 320 backlinks... Get more links. Article submission is one of the best ways to do it. You can simple turn your site content, or blog posts into articles and submit them. Other options: write them yourself or hire an article writer.

You can use Distribute Your Articles, just fill in one submission form and they submit to 1000 and more sites - and they do it manually.

You absolutely need more links, competitors have 5,378. I would do article submission daily (1 article a day) and focus more on links.

If you want to rank for this keywords:

Then create a keyword list. This is a list of keywords, that you will use in the anchor text of backlinks, so you will NOT always use fuller brush

The list will include keyword variations which are like this:

fuller brush company
cheap fuller brush
buy fuller brush

I don't know what is a fuller brush, but the point is create a list of keyword variations which consist of your keyword fuller brush and add one other word or sometimes two before or after it.

Usually I create 20 variations.

Sometimes also link to your site by url instead of using a keyword.


As much information you already got out of this I want to give you more! The most important part is about link building so here's how I've created my own keyword variation list for the spyware cleaner term.

You know I have the #1 for spyware cleaner - when I got the links this is what I've did:

First I created 20 keyword variations, these I will then use in the anchor text anytime I'm getting links.

spyware cleaner software
noadware spyware cleaner

Etc etc, the list contains 20 keywords, sometimes I also use the url of my website (homepage) instead of a keyword. Sometimes I also use completely different keywords like:

anti spyware and adware software
spyware tool free trial
internet security software

By doing this I also increased the rankings for noadware and other keytwords. Why?

Because noadware is also in the anchor text:
noadware spyware cleaner
